ELECTRIC LOVE

The debut album. 8th June 2026.

THE ALBUM

Project K's debut album is a vibrant collection of vocal pop covers, reimagining overlooked songs that deserved far greater success or wider reach the first time around. Blending styles from retro hi-NRG and classic dance-pop to uplifting house and euphoric trance, the album brings lesser-known or long-forgotten songs kicking and screaming into 2026!

Featuring soaring vocal performances from Magenta Soulstar (USA) and Emma Lowe (UK), each track is driven by strong melody & heartfelt delivery.

Includes the singles Mind Over Matter, Dare MeRing of Ice, and Love in the Shadows.

The album is available on vinyl, CD (with exclusive bonus track), digital download and on all streaming services.

THE SONGS

Wait For You (Overture) (vocals by Emma Lowe)

Originally released by Lost Witness in 2004 as a huge trance anthem, this always felt to me like it had a fragile heart beneath the beats. So, I stripped it back into a gentle but rousing ballad, and Emma delivered a gorgeous vocal almost in one take, and it's that version that opens the album.

Love in the Shadows (vocals by Magenta Soulstar)

Originally sung by E.G. Daily, this is one of those songs that should have been far bigger than it was. Written for "Thief of Hearts" and later a US dance chart hit, it still feels criminally overlooked. For this album, I reimagined it in a Stock/Aitken/Waterman-inspired style, the kind of sound I always thought would suit it perfectly. Magenta’s vocals are stunning, full of energy and passion.

Southern Sun (vocals by Emma Lowe)

Released by (Paul) Oakenfold in 2002, this always stood out to me for its unusual verse melody and uplifting chorus. I wanted to bring it into a more direct pop format while keeping it firmly on the dancefloor.  I remember worrying at the time that the twisted melody of the verse and the high notes of the chorus might be a challenge for Emma. I was wrong.

The View From Here (vocals by Emma Lowe)

Originally by Dubstar, this was first released as the b-side to “Elevator Song” in 1996, and I loved it more than the a-side. I first arranged it as a ballad for piano, strings and Emma’s voice, though that version remains unreleased. Years later, I turned it into the dance-pop version here, replacing the original guitar topline with new counter-melodies. With both Emma and Dubstar’s Sarah Blackwood being West Yorkshire lasses, this one feels especially fitting.

Ring Of Ice (vocals by Magenta Soulstar)

A modest hit for Jennifer Rush in 1984/85, “Ring of Ice” has always deserved more love, especially in the UK, where it followed (and was overshadowed by) “The Power of Love”. I’ve always preferred it: upbeat, hooky, and lifted by that brilliant “dancing in the night” line. Like “Love in the Shadows”, I gave it a S/A/W-style backing, and Magenta loved it - bringing so much light, shade, grit and passion to her delivery. I can still remember getting goosebumps when I heard those closing choruses from her.

Catch (vocals by James Blair)

With special thanks to Bearly Disco for his genius.

As a longtime Sunscreem fan, I wanted to include one of their songs, and “Catch” won out thanks to its hooks and unrealised commercial potential. Why I ended up singing it myself is lost to time, but there we are. My original version stayed close to theirs, until Bearly Disco remixed it in 2024 with a beautiful new chord progression. With his blessing, I used elements of his arrangement and some of my own to create this hybrid version. Because the song changed so much, I sent it to Sunscreem for approval, and they replied with real generosity. Sunscreem, thank you, I couldn’t Love U More.

The Hand That Feeds (vocals by Emma Lowe)

Project K does Nine Inch Nails? Not my usual lane, but Emma is a rock-chick at heart, and after so many disco, dance and pop tracks, it felt right to let her suggest something. She chose this, and I loved it immediately. The production had to keep its grit, so it became the album’s only guitar-led track, albeit sampled. Think Girls Aloud’s “Sexy! No No No…” with a bit of house thrown in.

Mind Over Matter (vocals by Magenta Soulstar)

This song has a tangled history. First recorded by Nikki Leeger in 1986, it was later re-recorded by Debbie Harry for Summer School, produced by Stock, Aitken & Waterman, before label issues led to her vocals being replaced by E.G. Daily. Obsessed with the leaked Debbie version, I decided to cover it in that same hi-NRG style so the song could finally exist digitally in some form. It was the first track I recorded with Magenta, and I was instantly smitten - she brought fire, soul and grit, and I knew it had to be the first single.

Dare Me (vocals by Emma Lowe)

From the first single to the last track recorded for the album. What can you say about this 1985 Pointer Sisters classic? The chorus is iconic, even to people who don’t know the title. I wanted to update the whole song for 2025, not just recycle the chorus (as had been done by Junior Jack in the noughties). Faster, punchier, and built around a stricter 4/4 groove, it needed a huge vocal, and Emma absolutely delivered, combining sweetness, power and pinpoint accuracy in the layered choruses and adlibs the track demanded.

Wait For You (vocals by Emma Lowe)

And so the album closes with the song that opened it, albeit in a very different form. Years after producing the ballad version, I circled back and constructed it as a trance track again. I couldn’t choose between the two versions, so both made the cut. I love how the orchestral elements sit with the banging beats here, and it seemed like the perfect way to close the album.
